What can and can't be donated?
Many devices can be donated. Please check the lists below before dropping items off at the collection point.
OK To Donate
- Laptops and desktop computers with chargers
- Phones released within the last 10 years
- Tablets released within the last 10 years
- Charging cables for phones, tablets, and laptops
- Computer peripherals in good condition (keyboards, mice, webcams)
Contact Us Before Donating
- External storage devices (hard drives, USB sticks, SD cards) — please contact us first. We will securely wipe these devices, even if you've already erased them.
Please Don't Donate
- Appliances — consider donating them to a zero waste hub instead
- Devices that have not been wiped (personal data must be removed before donating)
- Large items (like TVs) that are difficult to transport
- Sky and other satellite TV boxes
- Please register devices using our donation form before bringing them: Donation form
How to label and donate your devices - REQUIRED - THIS WILL ALSO BE EMAILED TO YOU AFTER FILLING OUT THE FORM.
Create your device code: Use your first name followed by your last initial.
Example: Tyler Joseph → TYLERJ
Multiple devices: Add /D_ with _ being the device number.
Example (donating three devices):
TYLERJ/D1
TYLERJ/D2
TYLERJ/D3
Please replace TYLERJ with your own code.
Label your devices
Write the code on paper and tape it to the device. If possible, bundle the device with its charging cable.
Drop-off
Drop off devices at the collection point: Remuera West Scout Den.
